Activités de recherche
Ibrahima THIAW est un archéologue sénégalais. Il dirige actuellement le laboratoire d'archéologie de l'Institut Fondamental d'Afrique Noire (IFAN) / Université Cheikh Anta Anta Diop. Il est le Directeur d’URICA (Unité de Recherche en Ingénierie culturelle et en Anthropologie), un programme de formation en Anthropologie au sein de l’Ecole doctorale ETHOS. Ses recherches portent essentiellement sur l’archéologie historique, l’archéologie nautique, le commerce atlantique, l’archéologie coloniale, la gestion du patrimoine et les politiques culturelles et mémorielles. Il a participé à de nombreux programmes de recherche en archéologie et de gestion du patrimoine au Sénégal, en Afrique occidentale et centrale. Ses publications concernent surtout l'impact atlantique sur les sociétés de l’Afrique de l’Ouest, l'archéologie coloniale, les défis de la gestion du patrimoine culturel, et l’étude de la culture matérielle.
